We are very pleased to offer a wonderful and very rare 1969 Austin Mini Cooper MK2. Finished in Snowberry white with a contrasting black roof. This matching numbers example offers its lucky new owner the chance to own a Mini Cooper that has not been restored to full trailer queen spec, instead it wears its patina well and is ready to be jumped in and driven, which is the point of these excellent machines. Registered new in June 1969 and supplied by Kennings Car Mart. It is accompanied with a heritage certificate supporting that it is in its original intended spec. MK2 Minis are one of my favourite period of Minis. They were only manufactured for 18 months before the introduction of the MK3 and therefore they are very rare and have a certain amount of exclusiveness in the Classic Mini world.
On the road it is a delight to drive. The original 998 engine holds strong oil pressure and is super smooth with a very entertaining level of performance even by todays standards, this Cooper is a quick car. The gearbox is also taught and precise as it should be. The original Hydrolastic suspension provides a very comfortable ride on any road surface. The whole experience really comes alive on the twisty stuff with the sound of the twin carbs and the RC40 exhaust and it offers that unique sixties Cooper experience.
The interior is well presented and apart from a new carpet set is totally original with some patina as to be expected. It does have that original feel that is impossible to replicate. The three clock binnacle and 100 MPH speedo is all that you will really need, it also has a period Sports steering wheel. The boot is original with the correct boot board removed for the pics.
The Mini has a solid shell which is largely original. It has the correct fluted sills and solid boot floor and subframes. It has never been the subject of a complete restoration which is what I love about it, so expect to see evidence of repairs and maintenance over the years. The point of this Cooper is exactly that, ready to be driven and enjoyed. This is a good looking Mini that gets lots of deserved attention and is a pleasure to drive.
The Mini is fully serviced, checked and driven and will be supplied with a full MOT so is ready to go and be driven and enjoyed. It is also MOT and Tax exempt.
