1948 Allard L Type, four seater For Sale

In black with a dark red interior.

The original buff log book in the history file of this wonderful Allard shows that it was first registered on 3rd September 1948 to a Doctor Allan in Paisley, with the registration number XS 6484 which it retains today. A subsequent green Registration Book details ownership by a Mr. Wooliscroft of Wem in Shropshire in 1967 who eventually passed the L Type on to a Colin Daniels in 1981.

Mr. Daniels was a cabinet maker and he carried out a thorough body and mechanical restoration of the car which is detailed in the December 1989 edition of Classic and Sportscar magazine, a copy of which is in the file. The interior was completely rebuilt and new weather gear crafted. He enjoyed the car until 1994 and its subsequent ownership is detailed to the present day.

There are invoices in the history file that show that the Allard had a refresh in 2009 with attention to the engine, brakes, paintwork and chromework. We have recently rebuilt the rear brakes, attended to some electrical issues and serviced the car which is driving very nicely once more.

One of 191 L Type, four seater Allards that were produced between 1946 and 1950, this car is fitted with the 3. 6 litre, flathead Ford V8 engine and three speed transmission. The car comes with a very nicely fitting hood and sidescreens, and seat belts front and rear.

There are believed to be about fifty of these cars remaining worldwide, with only a handful on the road.

A rare and interesting four seater convertible.
