Description

1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III Long Wheel Base with division finished in in original Garnet with Black hide interior. CEL 103 is one of just 206 Silver Cloud III LWB built and one of the last. It was commissioned by Mr Dean of Dean Homesteads Mayfair, London. The car was sold to Bond Street Securities in 1966 who owned the car until 1970. In 1972 the car was purchased by Mr Percy Ian Wallace Trotter, managing director of Sky Petroleums and was suitably registered ‘SKY 2’. The car remained in the ownership of Sky Petroleum for 14 years spending many of those in Beverly Hills. Since returning to the UK in 1986 it has had a handful of owners and has been exceptionally maintained by Rolls Royce specialists. The car is offered with a comprehensive history file with every MOT backing back to 1972 and a large history dossier including invoices for works carried out, photographs, tax discs, original buff log book and Rolls-Royce construction records. Finished in the Royal colour Garnet, the paintwork has an excellent lustre and the coachwork is exceptional as is the bright work including the factory optional chrome trims on the front wings and doors. Inside the cabin the Black leather trim is soft and supple; the fawn headlining is perfect as are the Black Wilton carpets and Garnet lambswool over rugs. The electric glass division can be operated front the front or rear with rear seat passengers also benefiting from opening quarter lights, walnut picnic tables and rear heater and radio controls. Offered with full large and small tools and a detachable pennant staff adorning the radiator grille. On the road the car performs faultlessly with a quiet, powerful engine, smooth four speed transmission and compliant suspension; as in 1965, it remains one of the most elegant and regal ways to travel by road. One of the last of the chassis built English Rolls-Royce at a fraction of the price of today’s German equivalent chauffer driven Rolls-Royce, this is an exceptionally fine example of this rare and highly sought model and represents a fantastic investment for the future.
