Description

This Jaguar MkII 3. 4 is a well-preserved example of the classic British sports saloon, which boasts a rebuilt engine, and benefits from an earlier restoration.
It is powered by a ‘numbers-matching’ 3. 4-litre Jaguar XK6 straight-six, coupled to a numbers-matching four-speed manual gearbox with a reconditioned overdrive unit.
The odometer displays 120, 710 miles.
This MkII has been with its current owner for four and a half years.
The engine is noted to have been rebuilt in late 2019, and the car was serviced just 500 miles prior to listing.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This MkII is finished in the appealing hue of Carmen Red over a cream leather-trimmed interior, complemented by matching carpets and elegant wood trim on the dashboard and door cards.
It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome wire wheels with two-eared knock offs, shod in Blockley radial tyres on the front, and Vredestein Classic tyres on the rear axle.
The cabin is equipped with a selection of Smiths dials, toggle switches for the controls, and manually operated windows, it is now fitted with a more modern Blaupunkt head unit.
Upgrades include uprated four-pot Zeus front callipers, Koni front dampers, Gaz rear dampers, and a Revotec electric cooling fan and fan controller.
The car will be accompanied by history and maintenance invoices dating back to 1990.
CONDITION
The Carmen Red paintwork is in generally good condition, having been restored and repainted in 1990. It still presents in reasonable order today, though it is noted that the finish is showing its age, with bubbling around the headlights and on the bottoms of the doors, and paint lifting around the wheel arches. There is also some bubbling on the bootlid, as well as some pitting on the front bumper.
Inside, the cabin presents well. As is to be expected, there is some wear and a general ‘patina’ on the seats, age-related marks on the carpets, and UV damage on the wood dashboard, along with some signs of water damage on the wooden caps on the rear doors.
Please note the horn is temperamental and that the fog lights do not function, but there are no known other electrical or mechanical faults.
The car’s last MOT test was conducted on 28 November 2017 at 15, 628 miles, resulting in a pass with an advisory for an oil leak.
The car is now believed to be exempt from mandatory MOT testing due to it being more than 40 years old.
SERVICE HISTORY
This MkII’s latest service was carried out in April 2022 at around120, 210 miles by its previous custodian, who is the owner of a vehicle restoration workshop. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change, along with the replacement of the fuel pump, fuel lines, brake fluid, clutch fluid, and gearbox fluid, and an overhaul of the gearbox overdrive unit.
Prior to this, in early 2020 the front suspension was rebuilt including the fitment of new bushes, springs, dampers, and also brake lines, and in late 2020 the rear suspension was rebuilt, including the fitment of new bushes, springs and dampers, as well as an uprated ‘spin on’ type oil filter.
In Late 2019, the car was treated to an engine rebuild with new pistons, valves, valve seats, and big end and main bearings. The cylinder head was also rebuilt, the block re-bored, and the crank polished. A new clutch was also fitted, as well as the upgraded Zeus four-pot front brakes, the carburettors rebuilt, and a new radiator, hoses and water pump fitted.
The previous owner informed us that the underside of the car has regularly been treated with Waxoyl during their ownership.

SUMMARY
This Jaguar MkII 3. 4 is a well-maintained example of the classic sports saloon, with matching numbers engine and gearbox, and which has been systematically mechanically overhauled during the current owner’s time with the car. The exterior and interior are in good useable condition, and the car is now ready to be used once more, and is reported to be running well.
