In 1964, the Chevrolet Impala was the biggest and plushest passenger car in Chevrolet's line-up at the time. Impalas were offered with the basic straight 6-cylinder engines and an array of larger, more powerful V8s including the iconic 409. The 1964 Impala has always been the prefered choice for the hotrod and custom scene of the sixties and seventies, and it interestingly continued its prominence in pop culture well with many famous rappers in the 90s and beyond, including Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, rapping about "rollin' in their 6-4s" in reference to the iconic lowriding 1964 Impalas. Of all of the 1, 5 million cars produced by Chevrolet in 1964, the Impala Convertible was the rarest with only 81. 897 examples produced.
This example is such a sought after 1964 Convertible, equipped with the "small block" 327 ci V8 engine and Powerglide automatic transmission. It's a huge and heavy car, but the powerful V8 engine offers plenty of performance and an impressive sound. It is further equipped with power steering and a hydraulically operated hood which fits perfectly. The fit and finish is perfect, and as it is an older restoration the paint have some signs of age and gives the car just the right amount of patina. Cruising along in this cool convertible is quite an experience with its soft suspension and easy steering.
