For the latest edition of the 'G series', Porsche is offering its customers a highly exclusive version in the form of a tribute to a legendary Porsche: the 911 Speedster. Taking its design cues from the 356 Speedster of the 1950s, the windscreen was lowered and a rigid bonnet cover with double bosses was fitted, giving the car a particularly racy style. Presented at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show, it did not go into production until the end of 1988.
The Porsche certificate states that the Speedster was delivered new in the United States on 28 August 1989, in elegant black livery with an exclusive silk grey leather interior. Speedster cars are usually stripped of comfort equipment, but that's not the case with our richly optioned example. It is fitted as standard with a Blaupunkt radio, a shorter gear lever, electrically adjustable comfort seats with lumbar support, speed control and air conditioning, not forgetting the fine chalk grey leather upholstery which elegantly replaces the leatherette. According to its registration document, the car was first registered on 1 July 1991. It was then 'Europeanised' by replacing the American lights and unattractive rear bumpers with European models, as well as the mileage counter, and today has 53, 756 km..
Models bearing the Speedster name hold a special place in the history of the Stuttgart-based marque and among enthusiasts. Unlike most Speedsters, this one is richly equipped, making it unique and desirable for any collector looking for a rare gem!
