Description
History:
Pietro Castagnero is the real master of this timelessly elegant sports coupé from Lancia. In 1965, the 1. 2 was shown for the first time in Turin. As early as 1967, the desire for a more powerful engine arose, and the 1. 3S with 93 hp was created. The 1. 3 was installed in the Fulvia until the end of production of the coupé in 1976. This Fulvia was used as a new presentation vehicle by a Ticino garage owner in 1975 and was not redeemed until 5 years later, on 18 June 1980. The Fulvia spent a total of 46 years in Ticino before it was brought to eastern Switzerland by a Fiat and Lancia connoisseur and gently restored. The veteran-approved and extremely well-maintained example is now looking forward to a new enthusiast.
Bodywork and paintwork:
The clean bodywork is in perfect condition thanks to a fresh paint renovation. All the body parts, fittings, hinges, window lifters and lock mechanisms have been overhauled.
Interior:
The seats are original and were resewn during the restoration. The trim, the wooden dashboard and the chrome parts are very nice. The entire carpet landscape has been completely renewed with high quality velour, which makes the Fulvia very homely. The instruments, switches and gauges are easy to use and read and all functions are impeccable.
Engine and mechanics:
The engine has excellent readings. Flawless garage maintenance, fully documented since 1987, is evidenced by a total mileage of just 70'000km. The compression is excellent, cylinder head, carburettor, petrol tank and the entire ignition system have been regularly checked and adjusted.
Chassis:
The chassis, brakes, wheel bearings are freshly checked, the Dunlop tyres have 90% of their tread. The underbody is very clean, undamaged and conserved with great effort.
Driving experience:
The Fulvia was and still is a popular rally car and a welcome guest at every classic car event and rally. Thanks to its front-wheel drive and very good weight distribution, it is extremely popular in motorsport and tends to understeer. The engine revs like a sportsman's heart and the chassis allows many fast cornering manoeuvres. The light steering and the great overview give a safe driving feeling, which probably led to the fact that also the ladies were very happy to buy the Fulvia.
Recommendation:
The good overall condition and the complete maintenance history make this an honest and sustainable vehicle for classic car enthusiasts.
A very beautiful, reliable and valuable specimen, which can be acquired at a price well below the cost price.
