Triumph TR2 1955 In my opinion one of the best fun drive sports cars from an era when the driver was in control and not some little black box . If you were brave enough 100mph was on tap and the tail end would hang out on the corners only to be caught again before you blasted off down the straight and narrow.
Extensively restored by the last very knowledgeable owner in 2011from the bare shell (photos available) with some very useful upgrades that totally transform the driving pleasure while still staying faithful to the TR2’s originality . These include a four speed gearbox with overdrive unit of 28% and first gear syncro , rear axle now has the later and stronger TR Girling unit with the higer ratio. Engine fully rebuilt and taken out from 1991cc to 2. 138cc along with the Tr4 camshaft and followers. Electronic ignition, sports coil, Kenlowe fan, Stainless steel exhaust, Polly bush suspension , New front and rear springs and shocks, Front Disc brakes, Servo, Laminated windscreen.
The goal being to create a car that would be comfortable for long distance cruising both here and overseas. Indeed this has been achieved with trips in and around the UK extending to Le Mans and Spar just to name a few . The car is without doubt a real pleasure to drive and has amazing stopping power along with a lovely throaty exhaust note.
Sitting on chrome wire wheels with as new radial tyres, the racing green paintwork retains a deep gloss shine while the all new upholstery just begs you to climb aboard and enjoy another blast up the road. The roll cage I think is a sensible addition and works well with the cars lines, but could be unbolted if one wanted to remove it. Inertia real seat belts fitted along with a battery disconnect switch and usb port for your sat nav or phone charger.
Full weather equipment with hood and side screens, just been serviced with new oils, filters, plugs. New battery fitted and brake fluid change.
