1937 Frazer Nash BMW 315/ 2 Sports
One of 22 BMW 315 triple carb sport spec chassis imported by AFN and known as 315/ 40 or 315/ 2. According to BMW Historic Motor Club only 15 examples were RHD.
According to production records listed in Denis Jenkinsons AFN history this is one of six cars with the Whittingham and Mitchell of Fulham aluminium bodied 315’s.
The current owner acquired the car as a non-runner is 1966 and little history is known prior to that other than an ad in the Motor Sport in December 1957 claiming “fast to drive and pretty to look at” and also “believed the only one of its type”.
Some work has been carried out in recent years by Bristol Engineering (successors to TT Workshops) in 2012 and further work by Paul Rogers Engineering in December 2016 resulting in a MOT pass. The Frazer Nash has been scarcely used but has recently been recommissioned and is now running and driving. With a six cylinder engine, IFS and rack and pinon steering the car drives like a post war vehicle and was clearly something quite special in 1930’s uk.
