Description

A very smart little Spitfire, subject to a comprehensive restoration in 2003 by Anderson Restorations in Tockwith. This included blast cleaning the car and replacing any panels and chassis parts with new as required it was then repainted in Sapphire blue.

Looking through the invoices, just about everything was renewed or rebuilt. The suspension was then polybushed all round with the addition of Spax adjustable shock absorbers.

The engine was stripped and rebuilt. Big and main bearings were replaced +10 oversize, with standard piston rings. The cam was replaced with a Kent TH2 Fast Road item. The carbs were rebuilt, breathing through K&N filters with AAU (richer) needles, tubular stainless exhaust manifold into the classic Spitfire twin back box system.

The interior was re-trimmed to the same standard as the rest of the car, with new carpets, vinyl panels, reupholstered seats, padded roll bar and a wood rim Motalita steering wheel.

The car then had little use until the last owner acquired it last year, he put it to use as his daily driver until a few weeks ago, in the time he had it, he sorted out several problems as they arose, the radiator, thermostat, windscreen wiper motor, anti roll bar links were replaced and the nearside rear half shaft, wheel bearing, trunnion etc have been rebuilt.

Last year a reconditioned gearbox and overdrive was fitted, along with a new three piece clutch kit.
The engine runs very smoothly and quietly with excellent oil pressure.

As can be seen in the pictures, the car is still very smart and has just been fitted with new stainless steel bumpers which really set it off.

There are a few small blemishes in the paintwork as to be expected 20 years after the restoration but there is very little rust, if you look underneath all the floors are body colour blue, the chassis is shiny paint if you give it wipe!

It was quite obviously a quality restoration when it was done.

Although it doesn't need one, the car is mot'ed well into next year and is obviously tax and LEZ exempt.

There is a large file of paperwork with the car and it has had 7 previous owners.

The car drives very well and as the previous owner proved is reliable enough to be a daily driver, that said it might be better to keep it for high days and holidays now!
