Cruise in style at GT Butler, with this monumental Galaxie 500 XL, in superb condition! Produced from 1958 to 1974, the 'Galaxie' was a reference to the space race, while the '500' version was a tribute to Ford's victory in the famous Daytona 500 race in 1958. An emblematic model for the manufacturer, the Galaxie was produced in all body styles: saloon, coupé, pick-up, estate, Ranchero (van), ambulance... and of course the highly desirable convertible version, almost 6 metres long! The model we are offering is a 2nd generation (1960 - 1964) Galaxie convertible, in its most upmarket "500 XL" finish. It is in superb condition and has benefited from many upgrades over the last 6 years. CONFIGURATION & HISTORY This Galaxie was delivered in the 500 XL version, offering the ultimate in 60s comfort. It benefits from power steering, a 3-speed automatic gearbox, electric soft top and soft top cover, leatherette upholstery, 4 independent seats, etc. It is powered by the 352Ci V8, standard on the 500 XL, offering approximately 250HP. The vehicle was imported in 2017 from the USA and has since been kept by the same owner. CONDITION & MAINTENANCE Our Galaxie is in very good condition. It has benefited from a number of upgrades over the last few years: the 4 tyres are new, the brakes have been completely rebuilt, the battery is 1 year old, the carburetion was completely overhauled recently, as was the steering. Last but not least, the chassis is perfectly sound and has no trace of corrosion! The vinyl soft top has just been replaced and is perfectly watertight. The interior is in excellent condition. The upholstery, which has already been restored, is as good as new. The carpets are in very good condition, as are the plastics and accessories. The car is fitted with a vintage car radio! All the electrical equipment is in perfect working order (although the car radio with US frequencies is not operational). The car starts immediately and offers a driving experience without reproach, with comfort worthy of a magic carpet! The vehicle is delivered with 2 sets of keys, numerous maintenance invoices, old roadworthiness tests, its collector's registration document and the FFVE certificate.
A full 12-, 24- or 36-month warranty can be taken out.
