Description

After 29 years of ownership, I am selling my 1934 Hudson Victoria coupe. This car has had only three owners since its inception and has an interesting history: I have the original Illinois title, still in the envelope sent to the first owner! It is one of four 1934 Hudson Eight Victoria's known worldwide by the Hudson/ Essex/ Terraplane Club. Although this is a very rare 1934 Hudson body, the British Railton Owners Club offers some excellent mechanical parts. Railton used unmodified Hudson chassis and mechanical components for its famous sports cars. The ROC helps its members around the world with its parts list and advice. The Hudson/ Essex/ Terraplane Club, based in the USA, is also an excellent source of help and parts for pre-war Hudson owners. Since I have owned the car, the work carried out has included: Professional engine rebuild: new pistons, rings, valves, seats, bearings, etc. Repainting (original 1934 Hudson colour) and underbody paint. Most of the chromework redone. Interior restored. Full professional wiring with modern cotton-coated materials.
Dynamo overhauled. New stainless steel fuel lines and tank. Radiator rebuilt. Electric fuel pump. Replacement of all rubber seals, step covers, etc. New carburettor (Daytona Parts Zenith 228 replica). Clutch resurfacing: replacement of cork with Kevlar. New shock absorbers. New universal joints. Sale includes: Original 1934 owner's manual and sales brochure. Hudson workshop manual. Spare parts, including rare parts such as clutch disc, headlight lenses, speedometers, etc. Original 1930's accessories: spoilers, indicator switch on steering column, spare wheel lock, Hudson gear knob. Please note that the mirror/ clock shown in the photos is NOT included in the sale, unlike the original mirror. The car runs perfectly with the help of a friend, a trained Rolls-Royce engineer, for mechanical work. It has recently won a competition (2024) and I would be happy to provide further details and photos to anyone who is genuinely interested. The car is easily accessible from the Portsmouth ferry terminal and on behalf of the buyer I can assist in arranging shipping from Southampton to a European port; shipping costs to be borne by the buyer. The car is for sale for family reasons: my wife has recently suffered a spinal injury and now has difficulty getting in and out of the car. No exchanges, trade-ins or photo collections please.
