Hello , L'atelier des 1000 is pleased to present for sale this beautiful Renault super five called R5 GT turbo phase 2 in a white configuration with a fabric interior typical of the model . The GT Turbo will replace the Alpine Turbo version in order to compete with the Golf and 205 GTI , it will illustrate itself in rally with Alain Oreille and Jean Ragnotti The example we offer is of French origin, it was registered on 23/ 11/ 1999 and was owned by the same person until mid-2024 .
Its purchaser offered it a mechanical overhaul before selling it to us. It has therefore recently undergone major work, but will still require bodywork work, particularly on the driver's lower body. The paintwork is in good condition but has an orange peel appearance that could certainly be improved with polishing.
The upholstery has been redone and is in superb condition, as are the carpets. The interior is harmonious and immediately takes you back to the 80's. The dashboard has no appearance defects and the Jaeger instrumentation is functional. The original steering wheel is also in very good condition. The mechanics behave very well. The engine starts easily, without noise or smoke, and revs up satisfactorily.
The Garett turbo was recently replaced and gives this little 1400 an incredible boost, transforming it into a supercharged bombshell. Various work was carried out at the end of 2024, including replacement of the TDC sensor, the rocker cover gasket, the brake pads, the steering ball joints, the front wheel bearings, the fuel pump, the accessory belt, the thermocontact and the tachometer relay, for example.
The mechanical gearbox guides and locks its ratios correctly, while the clutch shows no signs of weakness.
The running gear is in good condition. The steering shows no abnormal play and the suspension does its job perfectly. The original rims are fitted with tyres that have recently been replaced.
