INTRODUCTION
At its debut at the Paris Show in 1976, the 512 BB was equipped with a 5-litre version of the 12-cylinder boxer. The new engine proved a great success, giving the same power at lower revs, better torque and a smoother delivery than the earlier version in the 365 GT4 BB. The Pininfarina coachwork differed only slightly from the previous model in certain details which not only made it look even more elegant but also helped improve engine cooling.
The 512BB was produced from 1976 to 1981, after which the car was succeeded by the 512BBi with fuel injection. During this period, 929 units were built in the chassis number series from 19677 to 38487.
The name 512BB refers to the 5. 0 liter 12 Cylinder Berlinetta Boxer engine.
PROVENANCE
This particular car, chassisnumber 22339 was produced on 29-09-1977, after which it was personally delivered to its first owner on 14-10-1977 at the factory in Maranello. The car was ordered in Rosso Chiaro combined with a Pelle Nero interior.
The first owner decided to drive his car from his 2nd residence Freiburg, to his 1st residence in Sweden, where the car stayed until the early 90s. Contact with the factory showed that the car had about 17, 000 kilometers on the odometer at the time.
The car was then sold to the 2nd owner in Mӧnchen-Gladbach, who is a well-known GP engine collector. A first maintenance invoice from Modena Motorsport dated 22-04-1994 confirms a mileage of 17, 350 kilometers.
In 2013 the car was sold to its 3rd owner, back then with a mileage of 21, 500 kilometers. Since then, the car has been maintained purely by a Ferrari specialist. In April 2023, the current owner decided to have the car completely overhauled. This was an overhaul of about € 60, 000. Of course, all invoices for this work are present with the car.
