Alfa Romeo returned to Formula 1 as a constructor under Carlo Chiti and Autodelta, debuting the A. R. 177 in 1979 before introducing the 179 in 1980. For 1981, the 179C featured a new aluminium honeycomb monocoque while retaining much of the previous 179B design.
Driven by 1978 European F2 Champion Bruno Giacomelli, chassis 179C-03 competed in the opening part of the 1981 Formula One season at the United States West, Brazilian, Argentine and San Marino Grand Prix.
Now fully restored, with only dyno testing time on its rebuilt engine, 179C-03 represents an exciting opportunity to acquire a works Alfa Romeo Formula One car, eligible for premier historic racing events worldwide.
