Beskrivning

Our model has only been sold in less than 200 copies in France. What's more, it's a first-hand model with a supporting file. Its mileage makes this car a rare example. Entirely original, nothing has been modified or renovated. History As the M1 was developed specifically for racing, the first fully-fledged BMW model to be touched by the grace of Motorsport GmbH was the 635 CSI E24 coupé. Already recognised and appreciated for its supple, melodious engines, BMW's grand coupé nonetheless suffered from a certain excess weight which penalised its performance. Its performance was often judged to be less than its sleek, elegant looks would have suggested. Attributed to Paul Bracq for its 'shark-nose' front end, the design of the E24 coupé was also largely the work of Manfred Rennen, Bracq having already left to return to Peugeot before the launch of the 6 Series. Initially presented in 3 L and 3. 3 L versions in 1976, the E24 6 Series was the successor to the illustrious line of CS / E9 coupes that marked BMW's first steps into the post-war GT world. The 6 Series was initially assembled entirely at Karmann, which produced the bodywork, before being returned to BMW's Dingolfing plant. In 1978, the first power upgrade came with the 635 CSi model. But the real sports version of the 6 Series, the M635 CSi, arrived much later, with the first models going on sale at the end of 1984. The M635 CSi was therefore based on a platform that was almost 10 years old, and unfortunately for it, its design from the previous decade would take a real turn for the worse with the launch of the E32 7 Series. Aesthetically, this final version of the E24 still differed little from the other 6 Series, retaining a very sober look. In fact, the only real difference is a front bumper that drops lower to increase downforce at high speeds. Of course, a keen eye won't miss the two M badges on the grille and boot. But these could be removed on request for buyers who found them too ostentatious... On the other hand, many E24s received this badge after the fact, which contributed greatly to its relative anonymity over the decades. Finally, only connoisseurs of the 6 Series E24 will notice the body-coloured rear-view mirrors. Standard 635 CSi wheels with 220/ 55 VR 390 (Michelin TRX) tyres were fitted as standard on the European versions.
