1967 Sunbeam Alpine Series V Sports 1725cc.
99% original panel work, you can still see the factory spotwelds along the bottoms of the sills and around the wheel arches, as far as we can see the underside hasn’t had any welding repairs. The panel gaps and lines are as intended by Lord Rootes!
This is the Sports model that was a convertible from the factory as opposed to the GT with the removable hard top and no soft top.
The Rootes Group's alternative to an MGB, the rather stylish Sunbeam Alpine has always been a little bit rarer, due in no small part to their ability to rust!
This one however basked in the California sunshine for the first twenty something years of its life, brought back to the UK in 1990, then recommissioned, repainted from green to red and converted to righthand drive.
Since then it looks to have been well looked after, presumably not seen much rain despite being in the UK and spent the last 10 years in a museum.
The paintwork is showing its age in places, but is quite presentable with a polish up. There is no evidence of any rust in the front wings, door bottoms, bootlid or bonnet, being older paintwork, any previous poor repairs would have shown up by now.
We have just recommissioned the car with a new battery, brake servo, master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, brake hoses and four new tyres.
It will have a full service and mot included in the price.
The interior looks to be quite original apart from more recent carpets and the hood looks like a more recent replacement. There is a slight split in the drivers seat squab.
The chrome work looks to be original with some ageing, but again is very presentable.
The car starts easily and drives very smoothly, feeling sure and solid on the road with plenty of oomph from the 1725cc engine along with plenty of stopping power from the servo brakes.
