Description
THE Wolseley 4/ 50 is an exceptionally rare model these days. A kind of snub nosed version of its big sister, the Wolseley 6/ 80, this is a 4-cylinder 50 bhp overhead cam model. A proper British car. A proper Wolseley!
Finished in what you might call cherry red, this 75-year-old example is in superb order. Restoration would appear to have been lovingly carried out over a period of years with the car's extensive history file showing some of the most recent work to have been done in 2017. This was purely engine work (it has had plenty in the past too) and this particular invoice details engine parts at over £1, 000 and labour at £1, 200.
Photos prior to that show the Wolseley stripped back to almost nothing at all as work began on the shell. Her panels, paint work, underside, chrome, dark brown leather interior etc are all in great condition. She is on the button an drives really well showing excellent oil pressure. This car is a credit to those who have poured their time, money and love into it.
Note original features such as the winged Wolseley badge on the front of the roof above the windscreen, the "W" emblem on the petrol filler cap, the three grooves to the chrome work to the door handles - both exterior and interior - as well as to the boot hinges and boot handle. The famous Wolseley radiator badge does light up as it should.
She is a manual and a 4-speed column change.
A rare opportunity to acquire something different from the early 50s and a car that was built with great pride for a traditional British Motor Company who specialised in luxury vehicles.
