'The Jaguar XK150 is undeniably one of the world's fastest and safest cars. It is quiet and exceptionally refined mechanically, docile and comfortable. As with most cars, there are a few body details which could be improved, but we do not know of any more outstanding example of value for money.' - Autocar. A progressive development of the sensational XK120 and XK140, the XK150 retained the same basic chassis, 3. 4-litre engine and four-speed Moss transmission of its predecessors but benefited from an entirely new body providing increased interior space and improved visibility courtesy of a single-piece wrap-around windscreen. A higher front wing line and broader radiator grille were other obvious differences but the new model's main talking point was its Dunlop disc brakes; at last the XK had stopping power to match its prodigious straight-line speed. Introduced in the spring of 1957, the XK150 was available at first only in fixed and drophead coupé forms, the open roadster version not appearing until the following year. At 190bhp, the engine's maximum power output was identical to that of the XK140, so performance was little changed.
Ours is a US Supplied car but has been in the UK since 1990, has been totally restored and converted to Right hand drive. She is finished in Carmen Red, although she was originally Black . The car has the benefit of an all synchro 4 speed Jagaur gearbox with overdrive on top gear which is working perfectly. The car comes with a massive history file including details of a full strip down to a bare shell, a full re-chrome, and reassembly with the engine being fully rebuilt and the suspension being reassembled using Polly bushes and new ball joints and a brake upgrade with new discs and Coopercraft front callipers. The Bodywork, paintwork and chrome were restored some 20 years ago & still present in superb condition. There are invoices on file for over £40, 000 in the current ownership and that is on top of the £30, 000 of invoices from the earlier restoration in the late nineties, the service history has to be seen to be believed, hundreds of invoices!
