Unveiled in March 1961, the restyled Austin-Healey 3000 MkII boasted engine improvements in the form of triple SU carburettors and a revised camshaft, increasing maximum power to 132bhp. From November '61 a new gearbox was standardised, which at last moved the gear lever to the centre of the transmission tunnel. Contemporary road tests typically recorded performance figures of a 114mph top speed and a 0-60mph time of approximately 11 seconds.
This Austin-Healey 3000 MkII Convertible (BJ7) was despatched from the factory on 21st March 1963. Built for the North American export market, this left-hand drive car was originally finished in Ivory White with red interior trim and a black convertible hood. Factory-fitted equipment included wire wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windscreen, and overdrive. The car was destined for delivery to Royston, USA.
Our vendor purchased the Healey three years ago; it is currently finished in two-tone Ivory White over blue with dark blue leather interior. The latter is in good condition and the hood was replaced recently. A 2025 expert's report describes the car as in very good condition. Accompanying paperwork consists of a Dutch vehicle registration document; a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate; the aforementioned expert's report as well as a certificate from the Fédération Française des Véhicules d'Epoque allowing registration as a classic car in France.
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams|Cars website for all pertinent auction information.
