A lucky Lancia
Two Dutch friends with the same hobbies: Italy and classic Italian cars. Coincidentally, we've known these guys for years. They're well-versed in Italian classic cars and always manage to find the best ones.
This is also the case with this 1972 Lancia 2000 HF, which they bought in Forlì in 2016. As far as we can tell, the car belonged to the same owner from 1994 to 2006, and from 2006 to 2016 to another Italian, also living in Forlì. So, the car's date before 1994 is unknown, but given its very neat and original condition, it must have had owners who took good care of it.
The owner from whom the car was purchased still drove it daily, but the car deserved the necessary attention to be able to sell it again in a good condition.
Because our friends spend a large part of the year in Italy, they now know their way around, including a reputable body shop. This company, commissioned by them, disassembled the car and meticulously repainted it in the most beautiful dark brown and original Lancia color imaginable.
Fortunately, the rock-solid bodywork was free of any real rust. That, of course, is the major advantage of a car from Italy. No exorbitant costs for bodywork repairs, allowing for extra attention to the rest. The interior was also renovated, including a replacement of the beautiful cream-colored leather.
Like everything in Italy, it always takes a long time, and our friends were in no hurry either. So, a little over a year and a half later, the HF was ready, and as usual after every purchase, they drove the car to the Netherlands. After occasionally using it themselves, the car was sold in 2020 to a Dutchman living in Monaco. Apparently, the HF has a knack for countries with mostly good weather. Lucky Lancia.
We've seen this man's cars before, and each time, it's clear he goes above and beyond to keep them in perfect condition, or at least make them so. This is evident from an invoice for €3200 for work performed by a Lancia specialist. The car, of course, comes with plenty of photos from its Italian past, including the Monaco license plate.
But of course, if you live in Monaco, family comes to visit sometimes. And if they're also "car people," they might trade things over a big cigar and champagne. So, the Lancia came back to the Netherlands and was parked in the garage next to a beautiful Fulvia Coupe. This owner is apparently even more meticulous than the Monegasque and had quite a few things done to the car. Not so much to make it a competition car, but to make it a car where everything is perfect down to the last detail. In addition to the original instructions and workshop manuals, the invoice for this work is also included. When everything was in order, it was driven, but honestly, not much due to various personal circumstances.
The odometer currently reads 88. 124 km, which appears to be the original mileage. And that's clearly evident in everything. The smooth 2. 0-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine runs like a dream, and the HF brakes and steers as you'd expect from a classy car. Shifting the 5-speed gearbox (with a so-called "dog-leg" shifting system, meaning first gear is at the bottom left and second gear is at the top) is incredibly smooth. The paintwork still looks perfect after more than ten years of use. Well-maintained, and a car-loving owner takes care of the rest.
This Lancia 2000 HF Coupe is therefore perfectly ready for its next loving owner. Someone who truly appreciates the famous marque and will enjoy a car that, with only 1229 examples built, is quite unique and has a lot to offer the true Lancia enthusiast.
