Description
This delightful 1938 Aston Martin 15/ 98 short chassis was originally supplied new to Mr Brookes in 1938. Between 1997 and 2000, it underwent a meticulous rebuild by renowned 2-litre pre-war Aston Martin specialist, David Taylor, who fitted it with a new body. Following its restoration, the car has remained in the Taylor family ever since and has been enjoyed extensively on a variety of tours.
Now offered for sale for the first time since 1977, this is a superb and highly accurate example of the model — unsurprising given its provenance as David Taylor’s personal vehicle.
The car is accompanied by an excellent history file, including numerous 1950s invoices from Friary Motors (the official pre-war Aston Martin workshop after David Brown acquired the marque), a copy of the original buff logbook and detailed records and photographs of the restoration.
The interior retains a charming patina. The car drives beautifully, having recently undergone a service by Ecurie Bertelli following a careful period of storage.
This 15/ 98 is ready for new adventures and is available for viewing and test drives at Ecurie Bertelli.
