Description
The Austin-Healey Sprite is a small open sports car produced in the United Kingdom from 1958 until 1971. The Sprite was announced to the press in Monte Carlo by the British Motor Corporation on 20 May 1958, two days after that year's Monaco Grand Prix. It was intended to be a low-cost model that "a chap could keep in his bike shed", yet be the successor to the sporting versions of the pre-war Austin Seven.
This Austin Healey Sprite was first registered on the 30th September 1959 in Worcester, and more recently has spent a number of years in Surrey.
The engine starts and runs well, it has been fitted with a fully reconditioned A series engine from Oselli. It goes well and sounds great.
The drivetrain is in good order, there are no nasty noises and has been fitted with a 5 speed gearbox. The gears are direct and the clutch smooth, it handles very well and has new tyres all round.
The bodywork is in good order, it is very clean underneath and there is no corrosion. The paintwork is very nice and was likely finished to a concours standard when first restored.
The interior was retrimmed during the restoration and also comes complete with a tonneau cover and hood.
We have a history file including the current V5.
