Description
1972 LEYLAND CARS MINI 1000 VANThe 1972 Leyland Mini 1000 Van is a classic British commercial vehicle celebrated for its simple engineering and practical design. Originally a British Motor Corporation (BMC) product, it was produced by British Leyland during the early 1970s, a period when Mini production reached record numbers. Standard models featured a 998cc A-series engine producing approximately 38-39 bhp. Restored versions as this one, upgraded to the more powerful 1275cc A+ engine. Designed as a petite commercial vehicle with a payload capacity of 254 kilos, it measures roughly 3. 26 metres long and 1. 4 metres wide, built on a wheelbase 10 cm longer than the standard Mini saloon. Characterised by external door hinges (on earlier 1972 models), a metal slatted grille, and a square back for maximum cargo space. The interior is simple with sliding windows, large door bins, a two-spoke Bakelite steering wheel, and central dials. This rare fully restored 1972 Mini Van having had a bare shell 'nut & bolt' restoration completed C2023. It has been fitted with the much-preferred 1275cc engine.
