This is a rare and desirable European specification Triumph TR6 PI, equipped with the mechanical Lucas petrol injection system. Only 5, 333 left hand drive examples of this type were built, along with 8, 370 right hand drive cars for the UK market.
The TR6 PI and the earlier TR5 - both featuring the same 2. 5 litre engine and technical underpinnings - are the most exhilarating models in the Triumph roadster range.
The 150 SAE bhp six cylinder engine gives the TR6 PI a distinctly sporty character, accompanied by a wonderfully throaty exhaust note. This fine example was restored in the past.
The bodywork received fresh paint inside and out, and the interior was newly upholstered.
The car retains attractive original details such as the factory steel wheels with black hubcaps and the interior light positioned between the seats.
The car is fitted with the following options: overdrive, EZ electric power steering, leather comfort seats with higher backs and headrests, a walnut dashboard, two chrome door mounted rear view mirrors, a Moto Lita wood rim steering wheel, an aluminium high capacity radiator, electronic ignition, and a stainless steel exhaust system.
The Triumph TR6 is the most popular model in the TR range, with the PI version being the most sought after. It represents the last of the truly ‘hairy chested’ British roadsters, with a straight six engine under a long bonnet and a low seating position just ahead of the rear axle, giving the driver a cockpit like, almost fighter pilot sensation.
This is a very good example of a TR6 PI, offered at the price of a carburettor model... It is hard to resist this one!
