Description
Classic Car Design presents this rare Renault Mégane II R26-R. Launched in 2008, it is a direct evolution of the Mégane R26, pushing the “R” concept even further: drastic weight saving notably by removing the rear bench, reducing insulation, and rear polycarbonate windows. Chassis settings were refined and the transmission retains the limited-slip differential. In 2008, the R26-R set a record at the Nürburgring for a front-wheel-drive production car, in 8:17. It was produced in only 126 examples for the French market (450 in total).
Externally, this example, having only had 2 previous owners, is in very good overall condition with no notable scratches or dents, just rare and very light signs of wear. The paint retains its original shine. All stickers are present, the 18-inch red alloy wheels are in perfect condition with no scratches.
Inside, you are immersed in a racing ambience, no frills but two bucket seats with homologated harnesses and a four-point roll cage. The whole is in good overall condition, only a few defects typical of Megane from this era: a little wear on the door handles and the fabric of the door trim is sagging.
Mechanically, the 230 horsepower are very much present. Despite its low mileage, the car has always been regularly maintained, so everything works perfectly.
Buying this Mégane II R26-R is acquiring a piece of Renault Sport history. As a cherry on top, the “R26-R Renault Sport” box set is present. A car to preserve and use regularly to enjoy an energetic drivetrain but above all a formidable chassis without all the electronic crutches of modern cars, a true sporty and pure saloon!
