Body / Exterior:
The model presented here is an AUSTIN-HEALEY 3000 MKI BT7 from January 1960 in its period colour scheme Florida Green 2997 / Ivory 2379.
The bodywork was restored by a specialist a few years ago. On that occasion, this example received a full repaint in the factory colour range of the era. It remains in a very presentable condition with a uniform colour and excellent gloss today.
After a professional orbital polish by our workshop, we noted some minor paint defects on the top of the front wings near the bonnet and in the left-hand corner of the grille.
The leading edge of the passenger door shows a small chip.
The chrome bumpers and rub strips are in very good condition; we noted a misalignment on the front bumper and a few minor oxidation traces on the ends of the front bumper.
All trim chrome is present and in very good condition, except the driver’s door handle, which is slightly oxidised.
The ivory vinyl soft top is in excellent condition and folds easily. Only the fit with the windscreen remains improvable.
The seals remain as per era standards. The mica rear window is in very good condition.
This example is fitted with PVC side-screens in good condition.
The black tonneau cover is in good condition and fits easily.
H4 headlight lenses (Saturnus) are fitted to the main lamps.
The four 15" chromed wire wheels are in excellent condition with no dents or deformations.
These wear VREDESTEIN tyres with 15% wear front and rear.
The four chromed knock-offs are near-new.
This example has its original wire spare wheel, its knock-off mallet, and its jack.
Among the exterior/ equipment features, we note the black tonneau cover and ivory vinyl soft top.
Interior:
The interior was restored a few years ago and still presents very well.
Ivory leather upholstery with matching piping is in very good condition despite a patina of wear on the driver’s side.
Ivory leather door panels are perfectly taut.
This example is equipped with green carpets protected by PVC over-mats branded AUSTIN HEALEY. All in very good condition with no snags or discolouration.
The dashboard and its ivory faux-leather dash cap are in good condition.
The SMITHS instrument cluster with gold dials works perfectly, as does the ventilation.
The original bakelite steering wheel is in very good condition with an even patina.
The bakelite shift knob shows no cracks or breaks.
Chassis:
Raising the car confirms a healthy chassis and bodyshell, with no visible accident damage or apparent structural corrosion.
Fundamentals: ladder-frame chassis, floors, sills and wheel arches are in good condition.
Usage reserve: as a principle we cannot guarantee absolute perfection of alignments beyond their visual and functional good condition validated on road test and under the ramp.
During the dynamic test, no abnormal rattles were noted from the bodyshell or running gear (joints, bushings...).
Brakes are true and effective per the model’s standards.
Front discs show 50% wear and their pads 15% wear.
Rear drums are fully functional with no seepage traces.
A pre-delivery technical inspection will confirm overall functionality.
Engine / Transmission:
The mechanicals are in perfect working order.
Compression readings and road testing confirm a healthy engine.
The six-cylinder fires with minimal cranking and idle is stable, as shown in the 360° video with engine running at the start of the slideshow.
Starting is easy with no smoke or abnormal noises.
Oil pressure when hot is 10 psi at 400 rpm.
Under load, the engine revs freely without hiccups or overheating.
Only the exhaust silencer shows a few rubbing marks and a slight dent.
This example is equipped with a hi-torque high-performance starter and a Dynator (alternator) replaced in 2025 (invoice €1, 279).
Noted engine features include electronic ignition, the dynator, and the battery cut-off.
All four ratios engage and disengage smoothly with the synchros.
Clutch bite is good and the clutch has been replaced.
This model features a rare and sought-after option: Overdrive.
When engaged, it powers down 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears for better economy or higher cruising speed.
As is common with these models, engine/ gearbox/ axle seals are average.
