Description
In 2006, Ferrari introduced the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano as its new V12 flagship, powered by a front-mounted 6. 0-liter engine. Under the hood lies the Tipo F140 C, derived from the unit found in the Ferrari Enzo. While often described as “detuned,” the reality is anything but modest: 620 hp and 608 Nm of torque, making it one of the very few naturally aspirated engines of its era to exceed 100 hp per liter. At the time, it also delivered the highest torque figure ever recorded for a Ferrari GT car.
Although the 599 holds the distinction of being the last V12 Ferrari available with a traditional manual transmission, the vast majority were specified with Ferrari’s F1 Superfast gearbox - an evolution of the F1 transmission first introduced in the Ferrari F355. In the 599, this system enabled gear changes measured in hundredths of a second, delivering performance befitting the marque’s flagship.
In 2009, Ferrari introduced the HGTE (Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione) package. Available both as a factory specification and as a dealer retrofit, it allowed existing 599 owners to benefit from significant chassis and performance enhancements. The suspension adopted magnetorheological semi-active dampers integrated with the Manettino system, while spring rates were increased by 16% at the front and 10% at the rear. The rear anti-roll bar was enlarged, and the track widened by 10 mm at the front and 5 mm at the rear. Additional carbon fiber components were applied throughout the interior and exterior, including a revised rear diffuser. The F1 Superfast transmission received dedicated software calibration, complemented by specific engine management mapping and a bespoke exhaust system.
This example was factory-specified with the HGTE package from new. It features carbon fiber seats embroidered with “Handling GTE,” along with 20-inch star-design wheels.
Accompanying the car is Ferrari’s official Vehicle Identification Passport (VIP). Its presence underscores the car’s distinguished provenance: originally commissioned by one of Japan’s most renowned Ferrari collectors and later acquired directly by the current owner, ensuring that its original documentation remains intact. A highly pedigreed and properly documented example of Ferrari’s V12 flagship.
