Description
OPEL's Kadett B was released in 1966 and had then grown in all aspects, but was essentially based on the same technology as its predecessor. All Kadett Bs had transversal springs at the front, 1966 and 1967 models had leaf springs at the rear, 1968 to 1973 models were fitted with coil springs, except for the Caravan which retained the leaf springs.
An odd version was called the Olympia, and was a slightly more luxurious version than the Kadett, but apart from trim and engines, it was identical to the Kadett. Bigger engines also came. The standard was now 1100, but also 1500, 1700 and later also 1900 cc in the popular Rally-Kadett version.
The large engine with 90 hp, gave the Rally Kadett the extra performance, and were therefore used extensively in motor racing, with great success.
In the 1970 RAC Rally, Opel's Rally Kadette came second, third and fourth, with a great OPEL team consisting of the Swedes: Bus-Ove Eriksson, Lillebror Nasenius and Janne "Satan" Henriksson in the lead.
We can now present a rare and well preserved example of the 1970 OPEL Kadett Rallye 1900. The car was sold new by Aktiebolaget Bröderna Karlge, who represented General Motors in Jönköping, in the south of Sweden. The first owner of the car was "metal worker" Bengt Johansson who bought the car on the 6th of may, 1970.
He then in turn sold the Kadett to his brother on the 1st of February 1985. The third owner of the car bought it in July 1993. He then owned the car until his passing in 2017, when the car became part of the family estate.
Much of the car is untouched and it is noticeable that previous owners have taken care of the car. Some parts of the car have been repainted while some parts still have its original paint.
The car also comes with a lot of original documentation. Such as manuals, service books, insurance papers and inspection reports. The car runs well in the engine and is fast and fun to drive.
