Description
Just out of storage, unused for 18 months, runs and drives but will require recommissioning prior to being used on the public highway. The MG ZT 260 may appear to be just another variation in the MG ZT range but this is a car that has undergone very substantial development before its launch. Originally a transverse engine front wheel drive cruiser the 260 was re-engineered to a longitudinally mounted V8 with rear wheel drive and limited slip differential. In this form, the engine displaces 4. 6 litres and delivers a lazy but extremely effective 260bhp and a huge 410Nm of torque. In MG ZT260 the transmission was by way of a Tremec 5-speed manual box. Just 883 V8 MGs and Rover 75 V8s were built during the short production run and a mere 192 pre facelift MG ZT260s, so they are a pretty rare sight. Input from Prodrive and other respected British engineering companies ensured that the concept became a physical reality. Offered here is a pre facelift example from late 2003, which is finished in Starlight Silver with black leather interior. The car comes with a book pack, an MOT from November 2024/ 2025 and has just recently been equipped with a new battery. This is an early example of the pre facelift ZT260, which would benefit from some TLC. A rare rear wheel drive V8 sports saloon with that wonderful sound track from the 4. 6 Mustang V8 and with enough room for the family. Best described as a bit of a project and ideal for conversion to a track day car. These ZT260s were rare when they were new and are even rarer now, with excellent examples making very strong money/ And they wont be making any more !
