Description
One of around 20 built in right-hand drive, this exceptional De Tomaso Deauville Series 2 is a wonderfully rare example of De Tomaso’s elegant Italian answer to the Jaguar XJ6. Penned by the renowned Tom Tjaarda, engineered by Giampaolo Dallara and powered by dependable American V8 muscle, the Deauville perfectly blends Italian exotica with effortless grand touring capability.
Hand-built to order in steel and equipped with a 300bhp Ford 351 Cleveland V8 driving through a Ford 3-speed automatic transmission, the Deauville offers refined performance alongside genuine usability. Fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, ZF power steering, air-conditioning, electric windows and mirrors, plus iconic Campagnolo magnesium wheels ensured it was every inch the sophisticated sporting saloon.
This late-production Series 2 car, chassis #02148, was imported by Emilia Concessionaires and first registered to a West London-based owner on 20th September 1983, making it one of the final examples produced during the model’s 14-year run. Today, with only around 12 believed to remain in the UK, opportunities to acquire one are exceptionally rare.
Finished in striking black with a beautiful cream leather interior, the car presents superbly and has covered just 70k km (43k miles) from new. Period-correct Michelin XWX tyres further enhance its originality and presence.
The car has been with its current marque-specialist owner since March 2012 and, following a period in storage, was entrusted to respected specialists Three Point Four for comprehensive recommissioning works totalling circa £18, 000, all supported by invoices within the history file.
More recent maintenance includes:
