One of the finest designs from the late 1960s capturing the Zagato-Ercole Spada codes.
Excellent condition of presentation and operation. Restored by marque specialist KCA Restauri, now known as Maximilian K Automobili.
Equipped with the more powerful 2. 8 3C engine but still with its original engine.
When unveiled in 1957, the Flaminia succeeded the iconic Aurelia and embodied the pinnacle of Lancia craftsmanship. A true technological showcase of the Turin brand, it borrowed the famous V6 engine designed by Francesco De Virgilio and featured a sophisticated architecture. Its high-speed stability and mechanical refinement quickly made it one of the best grand tourers of its era. To give its new flagship a more sporting dimension, Lancia called on Zagato. The Milanese coachwork entrusted the project to a young designer with a bright future: Ercole Spada. Shown from 1958, the Flaminia Sport Zagato immediately stands out with its low, light, aerodynamic silhouette. Its famous double-bubble roof becomes one of Zagato's most iconic signatures while its perfect proportions confer timeless elegance. Lighter and more performance-oriented than other Flaminia versions, it attracted a discerning clientele seeking a refined and exclusive GT.
The rarity of the model greatly contributes to its current prestige. The early Flaminia Sport 2. 5 were produced in only 199 examples, including 99 cars with nose-to-plexiglass headlights and about 100 second-series examples with exposed headlights. Our chassis the details below belongs to this latter and very exclusive series. All Sport and Super Sport variants combined, fewer than 600 examples were built by Zagato, a figure that places the Flaminia among the rarest and most sought-after Lancias of the post-war era.
The displayed example was first registered in November 1961. It retains its original engine, a 2, 458 cc V6 (MOT82300 2454). Wishing to preserve the car's historical integrity, its owner kept this drivetrain with the car and will pass it to its future owner. The Flaminia is currently equipped with a 2. 8-litre engine fed by three carburettors, delivering enhanced performance while respecting the model's sporting spirit.
Before joining a French enthusiast's collection a few years ago as a replacement for a Maserati Mistral Spyder, this Flaminia Sport Zagato benefited from a complete restoration carried out by the KCA workshops in Italy. Recognised as one of the absolute references for restoring classic Lancias and especially Zagato models, these specialists have allowed the car to regain a presentation of very high quality, both aesthetically and mechanically. Its driving is extremely pleasant, its mechanics are smooth, and gear shifting is a joy of precision. The brakes give the whole package a safe behaviour in addition to the suspensions contributing to the car's ride comfort.
Rare, elegant and mechanically sophisticated, the Flaminia Sport Zagato is now regarded as one of the finest creations of Milanese coachbuilding. Bringing together the most sought-after attributes by collectors — Ercole Spada-designed, low production, quality restoration and presence of its original engine — our example represents a particularly seductive opportunity for fans of large Italian GTs from the 1960s. Long kept in the shadow of contemporary Ferraris and Maseratis, the Flaminia Sport is one of the most desirable Lancias ever produced. The presence of the original engine in our example, coupled with restoration by the KCA workshops, further enhances its appeal on the market.
