Description
The Austin 7 is an economy car that was produced from 1923 until 1939. It was nicknamed the "Baby Austin" and was, at that time, one of the most popular cars produced for the British market. Its effect on the British market was similar to that of the Model T Ford in the US, replacing most other British economy cars of the early 1920s.
This 1927 Austin 7 Chummy has been part of a collection on the South Coast for a number of years.
The engine is in fine fettle, it starts well and runs like a sewing machine. It has a new 6V battery and also has the more reliable Bosch magneto fitted, as well as new radiator.
The drivetrain is also in good order and drives like a typical Austin 7. There are no nasty noises and trundles down the road nicely.
The car has been well restored, the body is very solid and the underside is very clean. The paint work has been finished to a high standard and has now mellowed with a couple of battle scares.
The interior is lovely, it has been retrimmed and is as good as the day it was fitted. It also has a brand new hood as well as new side screens.
