Just 77, 000 miles from new
The MGF was unveiled to considerable acclaim in the autumn of 1995. It was powered by a 1, 796cc version of MG Rover’s K Series engine, mated to a close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox. The impressive ride was courtesy of Hydragas suspension, similar to that of the Rover Metro. Performance was lively—for the standard (non-VVC) version, you can expect around 8. 5secs. for the 0-60mph sprint and a top speed of 120mph. Some 77, 269 MGFs had been built by the time the model was supplanted by the TF in 2002.
First registered on the 6th April 2001, this MGF was specified in the attractive colour scheme of Anthracite Grey over a Duo-Tone Biscuit interior. Evidently cherished throughout its life, it has covered just c. 77, 000 miles from new and has been in the ownership of the current owner since early 2025.
In 2019 at 67, 142 miles, the clutch was renewed and then in the current ownership, the engine has been treated to a thorough overhaul which has included the renewal of the head gasket (plus a skim) and timing belt, a new radiator and cap, a new IRT valve plus a thorough service. Having covered just over 1, 000 miles since the works, the vendor has now lost his storage space for his private collection so has opted to sell off several of his fleet to aide the move. The car will be sold complete with a history file that contains a workshop manual, invoices for the aforementioned works, a stack of MoT certificates plus the V5C.
