Take this 2016, Morgan Plus 8, Paddy. From the front all is normal, the wide wheel arches house the 19” alloy wheel, Royal ivory paint glows, traditional Morgan waterfall chrome grill, at the back however there is a lovely good-sized trunk to store luggage. Body coloured but with mohair cover, not only does it look great, it’s very functional. Obviously it’s removable for when you’re at your destination and no longer need it.
Sitting in the driver's seat, the green leather compliments the walnut dash that has a glove box space, the dials look retro but modern, the air con works really well and the black leather Moto-lita steering wheel feels great in your hand. Because it’s a later Plus 8, power steering means this is a modern car in sheeps clothing.
Underneath the aluminium panels is the space frame chassis, foreshadowing what would later become the CX line of Morgans. The BMW power plant also hints what is to come, the V8 with quad exhaust, lets you know when you put your foot to the floor however it’s not loud enough to upset the neighbours.
