We are very pleased to offer an absolute time capsule 1973 Morris Mini 850. The full seventies experience is on offer here and the pure Mini driving experience. Finished in arguably the best of the seventies colours, Teal blue with a contrasting white roof and a period set of Dunlop D1 wheels with wider profile tyres. This is a full matching numbers example and a true survivor Mini managing to somehow never to have been restored and instead has a fantastic natural patina that immediately gets attention wherever I take it. It has all of its original numbers including its commission number, body number, FE numbers and even the original floor pan tag is in place. This Mini has lived a charmed life and has that wonderful survivor appeal that I adore. It has only covered 46 thousand miles in 53 years with just five previous owners. It has a service history folder which includes its original Passport to service book, registered new by Wadham Stringer in Southampton with a corresponding receipt from them for its first 1000 mile service totalling £1. 68 for oil!
On the road it drives very well, the 850 engine is smooth and revs freely with a precise magic wand gearbox. It is an engaging drive, the Mini is more than happy being pushed through gears and cruises along with modern traffic very well indeed. It feels very taught on the open the road with fantastic handling. It does benefit from some very useful but subtle upgrades which include a stage one kit and an RC40 exhaust which has given it some extra power, adjustable suspension and new suspension cones and electronic ignition. This is the original no fuss Mini driving experience that in my opinion offers the most fun, ten inch wheels, no frills just the pleasure of driving.
The interior is a fabulous time warp with those wonderful Lime flower seats with matching door cards, the original roof liner and even rarer its matching door seals. The single centre clock is present and correct as is the original steering wheel. The original rubber matt is still in the rear and the front now has a fitted carpet. What more do you need?
This Mini has a remarkably solid shell and has been clearly been well cherished, it has its original vented sills and body coloured floor pans. It also has its original front wings and front panel and it is quite difficult to see if it has had any panel replacement. The rear subframe is also in very good condition. The paintwork is aged and in my opinion it needs to be preserved, it is very difficult to create this look, many people try. It is well presented and will make its new owner very proud but its not perfect and it is not pretending to be, that is why I love it so much. The second I park it anywhere people want to admire it. It is ready to be driven and enjoyed.
The Mini has been fully serviced, checked, driven and tuned and is MOT and Tax exempt.
