The Maserati Indy
Introduced at the Turin Motor Show in 1968 and developed in collaboration with Vignale, the Maserati Indy takes its name from the famous Indianapolis 500, commemorating the House of the Trident's back-to-back victories at the American circuit in 1939 and 1940.
The styling is by Vignale and features a 2+2 configuration with typical grand tourer proportions. The bodywork is characterised by pop-up headlights, clean surfaces and a distinctive truncated rear end.
The 4. 7-litre version was introduced from 1970 onwards and became one of the most sought-after engines in the range. The 4, 719 cc V8 develops approximately 290 bhp at 5, 500 rpm.
The Maserati Indy thus combines the characteristics of a true grand tourer of the era with the presence of the Maserati V8, maintaining a configuration suitable for longer journeys thanks to the 2+2 cabin and comfort-oriented design.
