Description
1993 Jaguar XJS 4. 0 Convertible
80, 970 miles | 4. 0-litre straight-six | Automatic | Extensive history | MOT to March 2027
First registered in January 1993, this Jaguar XJS 4. 0 Convertible is finished in black with black leather and has covered just 80, 970 miles.
Powered by Jaguar’s 3, 980cc straight-six engine with automatic transmission, this is one of the later facelift XJS models, combining the cleaner styling of the earlier cars with the improved structure and refinement of the later generation.
What sets this car apart is its history. It retains its original Jaguar book pack, stamped service record, two keys, a substantial collection of historic MOT certificates and a large file of invoices covering decades of maintenance.
The original service documentation is particularly interesting, with the vehicle identification section made out to Jaguar Cars Ltd – Company Vehicles, Browns Lane, Coventry in January 1993.
The mileage is exceptionally well supported. The stamped service book begins at 2, 873 miles in 1993 and continues through the 1990s and early 2000s, while the surviving MOT history traces the car from 38, 031 miles in 1996 to 80, 111 miles in 2007, 80, 888 miles in 2018 and 80, 970 miles in 2026.
There is also a strong record of specialist maintenance. In 2004 Preston Jag Centre carried out work including replacement valve stem oil seals together with further engine servicing and associated seals and gaskets. Around the same period the suspension and braking system received significant attention, including front and rear shock absorbers, wheel bearings, steering rack bushes, radius-arm bushes, anti-roll-bar components and brake pads.
Further recommissioning work was carried out in 2018 and, following another period of very limited use, the Jaguar underwent a substantial programme of work in summer 2026.
This included:
Replacement fuel tank
Replacement fuel pump
Replacement fuel filters
New fuel injectors
Full service
Automatic gearbox oil change
New tyres
Brakes service
Roof motor overhauled
The result is a very usable, well-documented XJS that has benefited from considerable recent expenditure rather than simply being brought out of long-term storage.
The black bodywork suits the shape particularly well and is complemented by the black leather interior, wood trim and original period fittings. It remains a largely original car rather than a restored concours example, with the expected age-related marks and patination, but presents as a smart and honest XJS.
The current private registration K100 SXJ is included with the car. It has previously carried the registrations MRW 144 and MIA 870, all of which are supported within the historic paperwork.
The car is supplied with its original Jaguar book pack, stamped service history, two keys, historic MOT certificates and extensive invoice file.
The current MOT runs until 13 March 2027 and was issued with no advisories.
A very well documented, low-mileage XJS 4. 0 Convertible with strong provenance, extensive history and significant recent recommissioning.
