For any Alfista there can be no abbreviation more evocative than 'GTA'. For over five decades now, this simple abbreviation has been used to denote the purest of thoroughbreds in the marque's peerless sporting history. The original Autodelta-developed Giulia GTA models from the 1960s obliterated the competition on track, and now pass hands for the sort of figures once reserved only for cars with prancing horses or raging bulls on their bonnets. Does the 147 GTA, Alfa's hot hatch from the early 2000s, really deserve to be mentioned alongside such a motorsport legend?
In a word: absolutely.
Its performance figures make it a great pick in any Top-Trumps style boasting game, but do little to accurately describe the frantic experience awaiting you behind the wheel. In today's age of performance cars relying on forced-induction, small-capacity engines to excite their drivers (even Alfa's own 4C flagship sportscar is powered by a 1. 8 turbocharged engine), it's refreshing to have a full-fat 3. 2-litre V6 engine delivering 246bhp and 220lb-ft of torque in what is, ostensibly, a family-sized hatch. It is nothing short of a total hooligan to drive!
We're proud to offer for sale this low mileage, refreshingly original example. Presented in gleaming red livery, full black leather interior and the highly sought after 17" 'horseshoe' alloys, it is absolutely stunning. It has covered just 71, 301 miles in total, which is verified by a decent amount of service history from its previous owners. This paperwork includes records for the full timing belt change last being undertaken at 68, 599 miles, the differential being rebuilt at 43, 164 miles, new suspension arms fitted under 2k miles ago and much, much more. It is completely standard and just as it left the factory bar the small addition of a Scorpion GTA stainless exhaust system. When it makes a noise as glorious as this, though, we can forgive this single transgression!
With under 250 147 GTAs on British roads, and a large percentage of those being modified or one of the recent influx of Japanese-imported Selespeed automatics, finding one like this isn't an everyday opportunity. A genuine UK supplied manual, low-mileage, well cared for, enthusiast owned, unmolested GTA in great condition - if you miss out on this one, how long will you have to wait (and how much more might you have to pay?!) for the next one?
