Hello, L'atelier des 1000 is pleased to present you today this beautiful Bentley MKVI Standard Steel Saloon in an elegant configuration with its midnight blue colour and grey leather interior. 4202 examples of the factory MKVI were produced and it marked a revolution for the Crewe firm, as it was the first car to be bodied directly by the factory. This model was designed in 1939 but not produced until 1946.
Powered by a 6-cylinder 4L 1/ 4 engine designed in 1938, it propelled this high-flying saloon to a speed of almost 150km/ h!
The Rolls Royce Silver Dawn was based on the MK6 from '49 onwards, with the exception of the bumpers and grille, which were different, and a few extra horsepower. This car was registered on 09/ 03/ 1950 and imported into France in 2010 by its last owner, who kept it for 14 years and used it regularly before selling it. The paintwork is old and would benefit from a facelift to restore it to its former glory, although we are particularly aware of its current patina.
The vehicle has a sunroof as standard, which is a real bonus in use. Our on-deck inspection confirms that the underpinnings are sound, solid and free from corrosion. The chrome is perfectly gleaming. The upholstery is well preserved apart from the front seats, which will need to be redone. The original Bakelite steering wheel is in good condition.
The engine starts easily without noise or smoke and revs up quickly.
The gearbox behaves well and the clutch has a good guard . The fuel pump is new and the carburettors have been taken over and tuned, while the exhaust needs to be revised . All the electrics work . The battery has recently been replaced . The running gear has no abnormal play and the braking is effective . The front tyres were replaced last year .
