Model History: When the Jaguar E-Type appeared on the scene, it set the competition back 10 years! Presented in March 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show, it was a veritable thunderbolt, representing new technology, design and performance never before achieved by a production car. Four independent spoked wheels and disc brakes, a wooden steering wheel and an all-aluminium dashboard, bucket seats and streamlined headlights, 3 chromed SU in-line carburettors and the 265 bhp of the XK engine at just 1, 200 kilos, with a performance of 230 km/ h... This was Jaguar's new line called the E-TYPE. That's what this new Jaguar line called the E-TYPE represents. This car became the emblem of sportiness and elegance, and was owned by the greatest stars of the automobile and the 7th art. In 1964, Jaguar introduced a major mechanical evolution with the new 4. 2L engine. Two years later, in 1966, the brand unveiled the 2+2 version of the E-Type, a model designed to offer greater practicality thanks to its rear seats.
