DINO FERRARI 246 GT TYPE M, 14 bhp, launched on 29/ 12/ 1971 Chassis 02862 Fuel: Petrol 2-seater Designed as a competitor to Porsche and unveiled in 1968, the DINO was launched in 1969. The GT version, of which 2, 487 were produced, was the first mass-produced Ferrari to combine rear-wheel drive with a mid-mounted engine. This magnificent Dino type M was designed by Pinin Farina, hand-assembled by Scaglietti and fitted with a V6 Dino engine designed by Ferrari engineers, including Alfredo Ferrari, son of Enzo. Its name is a tribute to Alfredo, nicknamed Dino, racing driver and eldest son of Enzo Ferrari, who died prematurely at the age of 24.
Only 506 examples of the Dino 246 GT type M were ever built.
This exceptional Dino 246 GT is in its rare cream colour. Produced in September 1971, it is a Tipo M, the 2nd evolution of the model, distinguished by its black rather than chrome windscreen wipers, a single reversing light, five-bolt wheel fixing and a hub cap adorned with the Dino logo. This 100% Matching Numbers coupé is in perfect mechanical condition. Corrosion-free, fully original and fully serviced. This Dino left the factory in European configuration, with cream bodywork and black interior. It was delivered new on 19 November 1971 to French importer Charles Pozzi SA, and was immediately sold in France. First registered on 29 December 1971, the car is extremely well preserved in its original condition and has benefited from regular and constant maintenance at Pozzi SA. It has belonged to a total of 6 French owners since new. It has been completely stripped, repainted and serviced by the Provost-Automobile workshops.
It is sold with its original Dino cover and notebooks. Its very good condition, its elegant and rare cream colour, its complete history file and its clear maintenance file make this Dino a true collector's item. The Dino was and will remain one of the icons in the history of Ferrari. It embodies a unique Dolce Vita, combining excellent performance with unmistakable styling.
