The Austin-Healey 3000 is a sports car built between 1959 and 1967 by Jensen Motors for the Austin-Healey marque. It is known to specialists by the nickname “Big,” in reference to its large 3‑litre displacement engine.
It achieved numerous sporting successes in rallies at the time, and today it is still raced by enthusiasts of the marque.
The 3000 MK III is powered by a straight‑six engine, 2912 cc, two SU HD8 carburettors, side‑camshaft, a 4‑bearing crankshaft. It develops 148 hp at 5250 rpm. It is paired with a 4‑speed gearbox (first gear non‑synchronised) and a Normanville Laycock overdrive.
The front suspension is independent with unequal‑length wishbones and coil springs. At the rear there is a solid axle, semi‑elliptic leaf springs and a Panhard rod.
Brakes are disc at the front and drum at the rear.
The car weighs 1120 kg and can reach a top speed of 195 mph/ km/ h.
This car was fully restored in England by professionals in 2009.
In the owner’s hands for 15 years, he parts with it with regret for health reasons.
He has maintained it meticulously, while adding a few enhancements such as power steering giving true driving comfort, the *** inox which gives it an enchanting sound, a long‑range headlight beam and fog lights, and an additional electric fan for better cooling.
Its last technical inspection (MOT) from 2021, valid until 2026, is pristine.
