Description

History of the Alfa Romeo GT Bertone 1963 was an important year in automotive history. At the IAA in Frankfurt, a whole series of automotive icons were presented, including the Porsche 901, the first Pagode and the new Alfa coupé. The new cars had to be sober, rigorous, harmonious and functional. The Alfa Romeo Bertone Junior was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Bertone, and was one of the company's most timeless and beautiful creations. Under the bonnet is Alfa Romeo's famous double-cocker, which made its debut in 1953 on the Giulietta and, ten years later, was still one of the best four-cylinder engines in the world: a light-alloy block and cylinder head, two overhead camshafts and a solid duplex chain to drive the camshafts, as well as, in the case of the coupé, two twin carburettors, all combined with a sophisticated chassis and four disc brakes as standard, made the heart of any ambitious and sporty driver beat faster. The 1300 or 1600 GTA racing versions ran circles around the competition, and even Alfa's failed facelift in the early 70s, with its smoothed-out front end, didn't dent its commercial success. On the racetrack, the Bertone GT collected cups, even after it ceased production! Well over 200, 000 units left the Arese factory in Italy. Unfortunately, corrosion and damage due to poorly repaired accidents took their toll on the coupes in the years that followed, leading to a sharp reduction in the worldwide fleet. Vita of the GT Junior 1300 offered here The Alfa Romeo GT Junior 1300 offered here is one of the last 'letterboxes' built. This Alfa was first delivered and registered in Germany. In the meantime, it changed owners once until, in 2016, it came into the hands of a German Alfa collector living on the Côte d'Azur. He was immediately fascinated by the Alfa's original, unsoldered condition, with over 90% original paintwork, and immediately included the 'letterbox' in the circle of his exceptional collection of classic cars. The Alfa Classic Center (ACC) in Dortmund immediately carried out the following work: ACC undercarriage with red Koni, rear longitudinal arms with reinforced bushes, completely repositioned front axle, completely renewed braking system, installation of tinted windows all round, as well as sealing the body cavities and restoring the paintwork and interior with Swissvax. The engine is of course 'matching' and the whole vehicle has a total mileage of just 65, 797 km to date. The interior is original and in fantastic condition. The first owner also added an oil temperature gauge to the instruments. Currently, this Alfa Romeo has Monegasque registration papers which have been removed. Of course, copies of the German registration papers are still available, allowing simplified registration in Germany and France. The Italian 'dolce vita' is guaranteed with this magnificent coupé. Summary In short, a ravishing icon awaits the friend of Italian driving culture. Pure driving pleasure, a fascinating twin-camshaft engine, timeless design, magnificent sporty driving comfort - it's all a bewitching combination whose fascination endures even after more than 60 years. It is extremely rare to find a bonnet like this in its original, unrepaired and unwelded condition. Spare parts are still available at affordable prices. We can take care of after-sales service and spare parts supply, or with our new sister company Scuderia Sportiva Servizio (formerly Alfa Classic Center) in Dortmund.
