FIAT 128 - A vintage favourite at a low price Why I chose it It's rare that I offer vehicles at this price level, but this Fiat 128 ticks all the boxes: a clear history, a fully professionally restored engine, 100% original paintwork and, above all, that authentic, unadorned seventies style that has stood the test of time.
For me, it represents an excellent opportunity to start a collection, or simply to enjoy a real classic car, without the usual hassle. Its intelligent design, sober lines and ease of use make it an engaging, accessible and reliable car. A discreet but revolutionary icon of the European car industry, the Fiat 128 was the first mass-market compact saloon to adopt the front-wheel drive / transverse engine configuration. Voted European Car of the Year in 1970, it marked a major technical turning point and inspired a whole generation of modern compact cars. This handsome 1974 model, presented in its original Giallo Senape colour, is a living testimony to that era. A family history retraced Acquired new in 1974 by Mr Laffont, a driving instructor in Salon-de-Provence, this Fiat 128 remained in the same family until 2023. After the death of its first owner, the latter's brother, a garage owner in Bel Air, undertook a complete restoration, with the same attention to detail and reliability. The current owner, a second hand, has continued the maintenance with the same attention to detail. This family continuity gives the car a rare and reassuring consistency, both mechanically and in terms of its heritage.
Complete restoration - sound mechanics, original bodywork and paintwork The vehicle has benefited from a complete overhaul of all its technical components: - Engine, gearbox, transmission - Running gear, suspension, brakes - Power supply, steering The original wheels have been sandblasted and repainted, with their Fiat chrome hubcaps perfectly preserved. The bodywork, which has never been repainted, is still in the factory Giallo Senape colour, with a beautiful patina and a few minor defects from use.
The interior is in good condition, with the exception of a sag in the rear bench seat, typical of the model, which could be the subject of a minor refurbishment.
