An iconic atmospheric V8. The V8 Volante follows the taut, muscular lines of the V8 Coupé, penned by William Towns, while adding a perfectly integrated fabric hood. Under the bonnet, the Aston Martin AMV8 Volante is powered by the famous 5. 3-litre V8 (5340 cm³), entirely conceived by Aston Martin. Power is around 300 horsepower, transmitted to the rear wheels via a manual or automatic gearbox. This engine delivers a deep, sonorous tone characteristic of Astons from this era, and a generous torque allowing smooth and elegant driving, faithful to the Grand Touring spirit.
A luxurious and artisanal interior. Like all Aston Martins built at Newport Pagnell, the V8 Volante benefits from largely hand-built craftsmanship. History of this Aston Martin V8 Volante. Delivered new in the United States in 1979, this Aston Martin V8 Volante bears chassis number 15005. It is very likely the first V8 Volante delivered on the other side of the Atlantic. Produced among the very first examples, it retains its original configuration, prior to the aesthetic and mechanical evolutions that would later be introduced on versions destined for the American market. We are currently researching to document its initial history more precisely. However, we trace it from 2014 in the Netherlands, where it has benefited from regular and ongoing maintenance. In 2016, it changed ownership and arrived in France, before being acquired by its last owner in 2017. It is therefore the 5th Aston Martin V8 Volante produced, a particularly rare and remarkable item.
Bodywork. The car was repainted in dark blue several years ago. The bodywork is sound and presents very well. It naturally shows some signs of age, with no work required as of today.
Upholstery and hood. The upholstery was completely redone in the Netherlands in 2014 in an elegant beige shade, still in perfect condition today. The dark blue fabric hood, and the beige mohair interior hood, were also retouched at the same time.
Mechanical. The mechanics have been regularly maintained by its various owners, with several major works carried out, including: radiator (2020), carburettors (2019), fuel pump (2017), air conditioning (2016), cooling system (2015).
Transmission. Fitted with an automatic gearbox, which is perfectly maintained. Gear changes are smooth and efficient.
Chassis and running gear. The running gear has been regularly maintained. No abnormal noises to report and the car drives perfectly straight.
Braking. The braking system was renewed in 2015 and has been regularly serviced since.
