Visible in our showroom in France (Atelier des Coteaux)
The Jaguar E-Type succeeds the XK 150 and established itself as one of the absolute icons of automotive history. At its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show on 16 March 1961, the E-Type caused one of the most sensational events of the post-war era worldwide, like a real bombshell. The shock was immense, for the public and journalists as well as for other manufacturers. No laudatory descriptor was spared to celebrate its beauty, its originality, its grace and its modernity. The Series I 3. 8-litre remains, for many enthusiasts, the most accomplished version: its lines are of remarkable purity and its engine stands out for its particularly lively and expressive character.
This rare Jaguar Type E Series I 3. 8 flat-floor model is for sale as a bespoke restoration project in our workshops. It will be fully dismantled, all bodywork components will be stripped bare, and it will be sent to the rotisserie. All mechanical parts (engine, gearbox, differential, brakes, etc.) will be fully restored to original specification with all the improvements necessary for peaceful use. The car can be painted in its original factory colour or in the colour chosen by its future owner with a polylustre finish. The complete upholstery will be redone, with full-grain leather seats, carpets, hood and hood-cover in alpaca canvas, trunk interior, etc., in its original colour or in the desired colour.
You can thus choose the options you want (brakes, steering, gearbox, etc.), and you will be able to follow the restoration via a photo log that we will send you. The supplied Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms that the car was delivered new on 21 September 1961 to Jaguar Cars New York. Originally Old English White with a red interior, this Jaguar Type E was repainted after extensive dismantling many years ago; we have no further details about its past.
