Description
The Chevrolet Corvette C2, produced from 1963 to 1967, is one of the most iconic generations of the famous American sports car. Nicknamed the “Sting Ray”, it marks a major stylistic break with the first generation (C1). Its bold design, signed by Bill Mitchell and inspired by the Mako Shark concept car, gives it an aggressive and futuristic look for the era. Under the bonnet, the C2 offered several powerful V8 engines, including the famous 427 cubic inches at the end of production. It was also the first Corvette to adopt independent rear suspension, significantly improving handling.
Historically, the C2 appears during the golden age of muscle cars in the United States. It symbolises the rise of the American auto industry in the face of European sports cars. The Corvette C2 also shines in competition, notably at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in SCCA races. Today, it remains an icon sought after by collectors for its unique styling and historical significance.
We have the privilege of offering for sale a Chevrolet Corvette C2 from 1963 that is absolutely exceptional. It is a genuine “Split Window”, a mythical model produced only for the year 1963. This split rear window configuration is today one of the most sought after by collectors worldwide. The example we present is also a rare “Fuelie” version, equipped with Rochester mechanical fuel injection. This highly exclusive option in 1963 made the Corvette one of the most capable American sports cars of its era. Produced in limited numbers, the Split Window Fuel Injection represents a particularly scarce combination.
