Service history
Magnificent paintwork.
Interior entirely original and as new.
Mechanical in perfect running condition.
A rare and exceptional car in such original condition, matching numbers with its Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
This Daimler V12 chassis number 2B1234BW was built on 16 April 1973; it is the 234th example produced out of 337 RHD in total, making it an extremely rare model. Only 5 examples in LHD were assembled, which makes them unobtainable.
The Daimler Double-Six VDP Series 1, whose tall grille is highly distinctive, were all produced in under a year between May 1972 and June 1973 before the Series 2 with its lower grille was introduced, which explains their rarity.
This car is one of the very early examples of the Daimler Double Six / Jaguar XJ12. It is equipped with the legendary Jaguar V12 5. 3L engine, which also powered the E-Type. It is fed by four Zenith-Stromberg carburettors and develops 253 bhp DIN at 6000 rpm and 41. 6 mkg DIN at 3500 rpm. This engine is mated to a Borg-Warner 12 three-speed automatic gearbox.
The coachwork is in its original metallic caramel colour with an interior in original leather perfectly preserved in a light chamois shade with Daimler-specific finishes, rear seats separated, burr walnut veneers accented with light citronwood trim.
As with all Daimler Double Six / Jaguar XJ12 Series 1, it came with standard power steering, brake assist and four electric windows… but it was also equipped with some handsome options including air conditioning, Oyster mirrors with interior adjustment, a heated rear window, retractable seat belts and chrome wheels.
Magnificent example of the sole and unique V12-powered saloon of its era, at the time the fastest saloon in the world capable of taking you to 240 km/ h in absolute comfort.
