Description
Porsche 356A 1600 Cabriolet from 1959 – Numbers-matching, very original
This 1959 Porsche 356A/ 1600 Cabriolet is a very solid and authentic example, with numbers-matching and having only had two owners since leaving the factory. Painted in its original colour Ivory (704), the car is equipped with sealed-beam headlights and bumpers in American specifications.
The car has a well-documented history and remains remarkably original as a whole. It has never been involved in an accident, shows excellent panel gaps, and is incredibly dry underneath the chassis. The exterior was repainted once in the 1970s in its original Ivory colour, while the interior still preserves its original paint, upholstery, carpets and trim.
While showing some signs of age, it remains beautifully intact and authentic.
This Cabriolet has not undergone cosmetic restoration or over-restoration. It has not been driven since 1996 and remains a true survivor, rust-free and with an exceptional level of authenticity, increasingly hard to find.
Mechanically, the car received a complete restoration in the late 1990s, including a full rebuild of the original engine, the original gearbox and the braking system. After being stored from 1996 to 2012, the car underwent light restoration work to make it roadworthy again.
Original, good-condition 356A Cabriolets like this are exceedingly rare today, especially examples with matching numbers, a known history of ownership, and such an intact character.
